I research recipes extensively and then diligently follow the directions they give me. I am excellent at research and following directions. As a lover of food and a lover cooking, I want to learn everything.
I want to be an amazing cook who understands the fundamentals and knows how flavors work and can cook every meat without looking it up. I want to know everything that aspiring chefs learn in culinary school and then translate that into beautiful meals I cook myself.
Just how smooth is smooth? What am I trying to achieve here? And also is there a right and wrong way to knead? Recipes are great and wonderfully helpful, but I want to understand the fundamentals of cooking so that I can create amazing, flavorful dishes without depending on a recipe. I daydream about going to culinary school and learning all the things that professional chefs learn. I imagine myself baking beautiful pastries, whipping together french sauces casually for a morning brunch, and even inventing my own recipes because I understand the basics of cooking and baking and how everything works together.
I imagine walking onto the set of a tv cooking show and just knocking it out of the park because my skills are just that solid. This is my fantasy so just let me go with it. I want to transform my love of cooking into something beautiful and creative based on a solid foundation of technique and practice. What are marketing communication tools problem with wanting to know everything that people learn in culinary school is that actually going to culinary school as an adult with a real life and responsibilities and bills to pay is not a feasible option.
Culinary school is expensive, between 40K and 60K or even over K! As an adult with no plans to work in a restaurant lets be honest the hours alone seem terrible spending a lot of money and time on culinary school is not a good way to achieve my goal. Instead of just abandoning my dream of becoming a non-professional chef, I decided to make my own culinary school at home.
I will go through these books methodically, learning and practicing everything along the way. This is not a space for perfection although I hope to find it at times! I will read a chapter from one of these books once a week and then practice what I learned, documenting it here. I will continue until I have made it through the entirety of both of the books.
I will also read a chapter from one of these books weekly, and put together food experiments that I will document and share. I will share my experience cooking from these books as well as other recipes I attempt as a part of my journey to becoming a home master chef.
